The YouTube Guru Nightmare

I've had one goal for the past 3 years: 

Make money online. 

But having grown up in a poor country town in Alabama — I had no clue how to make money besides ‘the traditional path’.

You know the ‘path’ I'm talking about: 

School -> Degree -> Soul-sucking job for 40 years.

I had to find another way.

So I went to the only place I knew where to look…

YouTube.

I started binging ‘online money’ YouTube videos.

I watched every online guru and tried every business model they were selling:

> SMMA
> Dropshipping
> Crypto Trading
> Digital Products
> Etc.

You name it… I’ve tried and failed it. 

Luckily a few months later, I found an interesting video from a hyper-successful entrepreneur.

He explained that you DON’T get rich by looking for the ‘magic business models’...

Instead, you get rich by acquiring skills.

(And judging by the fact that this guy didn’t have anything to sell me, and he made 100x more than the average YouTube guru)

I decided to take his word for it lol.

So I watched some videos on the ‘best skills to learn online’ and chose a skill that sounded interesting to me:

Video Editing.

Right Idea, Wrong Skill

Fueled with this new knowledge and clarity…

I started grinding video editing.

After a few months of learning, I was getting decent and I even lucked out and landed an editing gig doing short-form for a big YouTuber. 

I was finally making some money online!!!

Things were looking promising — I even managed to get him over 400,000,000 shorts views.

I was so pumped to scale up my editing business and finally GET RICH…

But there was just one problem…

Even though I got him 400m views, those views barely made him ANY money.

He was spending more on me than he made back on the AdSense.

He soon let me go and I was back to square one.

It felt like overnight, I had lost the small progress I had made.

Ima be honest… those were dark days.

At my lowest, I even considered getting a second job just to get my wife out of the moldy apartment we were stuck in.

I wanted to give up so bad, but thankfully God had a better plan for my life…

The Most Valuable Skill Of The 21st Century

While cleaning out a closet at work, I came across a new ‘YouTube guru’ I’d never seen before. 

His videos were very different from the usual ‘guru-content’.

> No exotic cars
> No half-naked chicks
> Heck, there was barely any editing 

Just a random dude talking in a monotone voice. 

But for some reason, I couldn’t stop watching.

I was hanging on to every word he spoke.

This entrepreneur’s name was Dan Koe. 

Dan’s content had me shook.

This guy was getting millions of views & making millions of dollars with NO editing, NO cheap click-bait tactics, and WITHOUT flexing a bunch of money or cars.

I had to figure out how he did it.

If I could replicate this for myself, I’d be rich.

As I continued to binge Dan’s content, it slowly started to make sense.

The reason I didn’t make much money with video editing alone, is because it is a ‘low-value skill’.

After studying Dan’s content for an entire month, I finally found it.

He could do NOTHING for the next year and he’d still make a million dollars from the videos and sales pages he’s already written…

It’s safe to say. I knew exactly what I had to do.

I had to learn copywriting.

So I made a simple plan:

  • Get good at Copywriting.
  • ​Get paid to grow businesses with copywriting.
  • Hit $10,000 per month in online income.
  • ​Grow my OWN business using copywriting.

And for the first time ever… 

Things actually went according to plan lol.

Just 46 days after deciding to learn copywriting, this happened:

After a decade of pain and struggle, I had finally done it…

I made over $10,000 in one month, completely online.

I had proven to my friends and family that I’m not crazy — making big money online IS possible.

Now that I had a loyal following, I used copywriting to launch my OWN offer.

Insane.

In just one year, I went from a broke loser to making $60k per month consistently online.

All because I learned the skill of copywriting.

I was so excited that I couldn’t keep this skill to myself…
